So as the conversation went last Wednesday night...........
Me: mmm Kerrie this bread is lovely
Herman: CUT BACK GUYS!
Kerrie: Yeah so can Dawn and Wally please move out
Bit out of the blue but seeing as we had already started looking for a new host the day before as we are getting a bit tired of it here it wasn't the worst news. So we got our arses into gear and I got in touch with a woman called Sandy who I had spoken to the previous weekend about wwoofing and it turned out that the people who where supposed to be staying with her didn't turn up so she needed some people.......enter Dawn and Wally. :-)

Would you hire these 2 beautiful people?? |
We can't actually start for another week and a half with Sandy as she is away but she has some friends who needed a bit of help too so we are going to go stay with them for a bit first then switch homes to Sandy's. We went to visit our new homes and hosts on Saturday and they all seem like really lovely people with amazing houses. Huge and overlooking the Botanical Gardens. Sandy is also a fashion designer and has her own studio within her home so it will be a little paradise for me and she has already said she will get me roped in in helping her make things on the rainy days when we can't work outside so all good!
It seems to have fallen into place for us and although it will be a little strange living in someones actual home (rather than a resort like we are now), hopefully we will all get along ok. I'm sure we will.
So other stuff in the wwoofing world........we had a good start to the week as had yet another day off and took full advantage with a visit to the Gold Coast. It was an early start for our day off but it did mean I finally got to see that early morning sunrise! It was brilliant.
A lovely Aussie sunrise view from our apartment |
Surfers Paradise |
"THE VEIN" can often be reduced by in the intake of food and beer! |
Back to Surfers again after dinner and after a bit of a mooch and spotting of the unique 'Meter Maids' (fancy golf bikini clad laydees who top up your parking meter) we ended up in the pub as predicted and it was just in-time as the dark clouds came over and it chucked it down until we had to get our bus back! Weather is so messed up in Queensland!
The Surfers Metermaids! |
So back at work again Tuesday and although it stared well with me and Ginny actually working on the farm with the Guys it ended with us having to clean Kerrie's house. I actually got the better end as I was on blind cleaning whilst Ginny was asked to clean Kerrie's bedroom/bathroom and pick hair out of the shower plughole! She flat out refused and asked why Kerrie couldn't clean her own house and pick out her own hair from the plug holes. Very proud of Ginny. :-)
We have been working outside the rest of the week which has been better and I have been developing my machete skills!
We found a hurt little Larakeet which was sad. It had damaged it's leg and seemed in a lot of pain so gave it some food and put him in a little cage to try and get better but he went into shock and died poor little thing. Then Wendy put it in her freezer! When I asked her why she said it was because she couldn't decide whether to bury him or throw him in the bin! He'll be joining the snake I reckon..........

The litte Larakeet before he perished. Boo. |
Still not been able to have a go on the tractor, I don't think Herman is interested in showing me and Ginny how to drive it which is unfair. Women are good drivers too you know!
So a lot of weeding, raking and looking after the dickheads. (Chicks)
Our last working day at Bungunyah was pretty relaxed and the sun was shining which was nice and so me and Walster celebrated our Prison Break with some nice cold bottles of Miller. Lovely.
